In some patients it is as early as 12 or 13 years old, in others the roots may not grow until their early twenties.
Potential for Problems with Wisdom Teeth
Dr. Houlik evaluates each teenage patient’s potential for concerns caused by wisdom teeth. Their position determines problems in the future. Studies show that early evaluation and treatment of wisdom teeth results in better outcomes. Problems tend to occur with increasing frequency after the age of 30 when wisdom teeth are not removed. Wisdom teeth removal can be performed using local anesthetic or under conscious sedation. Often, all four wisdom teeth are removed at the same time.
